I first dipped my toes in Yoga my senior year of high school and held a flirting, yet uncommitted relationship with it for 8 years. During a rather wild trip traveling around the country, I had the opportunity to try out different studios and different styles of yoga. When I moved back to Charlotte in February of 2009, stumbled (almost quite literally) upon Yoga One. My first class was capped off by a teachers melodic voice serenading the class in Savasana. I knew then that I had found a place where I could unpack my bags, roll out my mat, and stay a while. In September of 2009, I completed my 200 hour teacher certification at Yoga One. The whole experience expanded me in a way I never knew possible. Yoga is a multitude of things to me. I see it as a tool to connect with something greater than oneself but that ultimately resides in me. Yoga has taught me that suffering is a choice and infinite possibilities exist when and if I choose to get out of my own way. I love the personal strength I feel when practicing. Despite these powerful gifts I have received from yoga, the most valuable lesson I have gained is learning to be grounded and with 'what is', not running from or running to. I am "squirmy" in nature. The community at Yoga One is unique and I feel etenally grateful to be sharing life with people dedicated to their own spiritual growth and that of others. I look forward to immersing myself more in my yoga practice, both on and off the mat, and sharing it with others. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
